Monday Questionnaire!! February is over!!

1.) Mood:
Pretty good. I actually have a decent day at work and came home in a somewhat good mood.

2.) Do you take vitamins every day?
I've started taking Vitamin C everyday because my doctor recommended that I take it since I was sick for 3 weeks. Ick! But luckily the chewable vitamin c is yum!

3.) Do you prefer sweet (chocolate/sugar) or salty (chips, etc.) type snacks?
It really depends on what mood I'm in. Lately I have been in a chocolate/sugar snack mode. My weakness this past week has been peanut M&M's. But I'm pretty much burnt out on those now lol.

4.) Current nail polish:
No current nail polish this time. I've been taking a break from painting my nails because my nails have been splitting. >.<

5.) What color are the walls of your bedroom?
White because we live in an apartment and there's no way I'm painting the walls and then repainting them before we move.

6.) Do you like to cook at home or are you more of a take-out person?
I'd love to cook more at home but as much as I hate to say it, right now I'm more of a take-out person. I know it's not healthy but when I get home from working all day, I just feel like sitting down, relaxing and then going to bed.

7.) Current outfit?
Old navy jeans, old navy tank and honda t-shirt

8.) What is your favorite television program?
That's a tough one because I watch a bunch of different types of shows. I'd have to say my favorite at the moment is Vampire Diaries. I can not get enough of Tyler :) mmm.

9.) Can you do a cartwheel?
Negative. I use to try all the time when I was in elementary school. Even had friends try to teach me how and I could never pick it up.

10.) Weekly goals:
To blog more often, take photos more often and to finish all of the many projects I have at work.

Eyeshadow of the Day: February 27th, 2011

So today I thought I'd try doing a smokey eye with my coastal scents palette. I'm using the coastal scents 88 prism palette. I absolutely love this palette. There are so many different colors to choose from and the price for the palette is awesome. They range from $18.99 to $20.99 I believe. Anyway, let's get started!

To start off my makeup, I used Urban Decay Primer Potion. You can find this at Ulta and Sephora for $18. It's a little pricey but a lot goes a long way and it works very well. I used a little on the my eyelids and used my fingers to spread it around the entire eyelid.

After spreading this around, I was ready to start on my eyeshadow. I chose a kind of shimmery black for the crease and v and then used a gray color for the middle and inside part of my eyelid.

I am using the crease brush by coastal scents to apply the eyeshadow to the lid.

Now I know what you're thinking. "Is she using a concealer brush for eyeshadow?". Yes, yes I am. It's weird I know but since I don't use it for concealer (yet) I have found that it does a pretty good job packing on the color! So I used it to put the gray color on my lid and to then blend it with the black so the black wouldn't be so BLACK. lol.

After finishing up with the eyeshadow, I applied L'Oreal double extend mascara to my lashes. I don't have a lash curler yet so I skip that step. Then you end up with the finished product!

I had to take the pictures with my phone so in this picture you can't really even see that I have black eyeshadow on :(.

This picture, however, you can see that I applied black. I think this look is a really pretty look for just every day makeup.

These were all the products I used, besides the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I decided for this look that I would not apply gray to my lower lash line and I decided against wearing eye liner.

Hope you guys like this look. I'm still practicing with makeup so I hope to get better at doing my eyeshadow later on lol.

Tag: My Makeup Story!!

I saw this Tag on Anna's blog called Embellishments. Here's the link Embellishments. I couldn't help but do this tag!!

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I'm not really sure what age I started wearing makeup. I just remember being 8 or 9 and pretending to put on makeup and actually playing with some makeup. I don't think I started actually wearing it till I was in High School. Even then I only did a little eye shadow and maybe some lipstick.

2. How did you get into makeup?
I got into wearing makeup pretty much all the time due to finding the beauty and makeup channels on youtube. I stumbled across Michelle Phan and Amarixe and absolutely loved their videos and it made me want to get into wearing makeup more often. I have to agree with Anna on the fact that I never really learned how to wear makeup properly. However, watching all of the various youtube videos on how to apply makeup and which makeup is best to use, I have quickly learned what to do and what not to do.  The youtube community is growing everyday with many makeup videos to watch and it's a great way for young girls to learn how to use makeup properly. I'm glad I found the makeup community. Before I found all of these youtube videos, I never really wore makeup, at least not all the time that is. Now I'm hooked on getting new products and trying new things and just experimenting with makeup. It's a blast going into a makeup store and purchasing makeup. I never thought I'd be the type of girl to want to be girly. I've always kind of been a tomboy. Now I'm total GIRL.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
I'd have to say that some of my favorite brands are: Urban Decay, NYX, Revlon, Coastal Scents, China Glaze and OPI. But that's just a few to list. I could write a paragraph on the other various brands I love.

4. What does makeup mean to you?
Makeup to me is a way to express your creative side and describe who you are, personality wise.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
I'd have to go with Urban Decay primer potion, coastal scents eye shadows, L'Oreal double extend mascara and NYC eye liner.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
My favorite thing about makeup would have to be that there's just so much variety and you can never run out of products or colors to try out. Plus it's definitely something that makes me smile when I've had a bad day. Going to Ulta, Sephora or even Wal-mart to get makeup products makes me all giddy inside. I love that there are just so many choices out there and some many products to try that it just never gets dull.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs. high end makeup?
I honestly think if drugstore did a good enough job as high end makeup did, then go for drugstore makeup. I go for both. I spent the $18 on a bottle of Urban Decay Primer Potion and it made me gringe! I can't see spending that much for such a small bottle but it was well worth the money spent. So for me, if you can find that quality in a drugstore then I'd down for buying it from a drugstore for a cheaper price. But we all know that nothing beats owning a few things from MAC.

8. What is one tip or advice you would give to a beginner?      To watch youtube makeup videos!! They are definitely worth the time sitting down at the computer. I've learned so much from them that it's crazy! Plus for beginners (which I pretty much still am), I suggest getting the Coastal Scents 88 eye shadow palette to play around with and one of their brush sets. That's what I started using and now I can move on to getting NYX eye shadows and maybe some MAC ones. It's always good to start off small and work your way up.

9. What is one make up trend you've never understood?
The need for putting on huge, super long eyelashes. Every now and then I'll see someone with eyelashes that are like a foot long! Why?! Why do you need eyelashes that are that long?! Also when people use mascara and it's super clumpy. There's a comb for that people. Or at least I use the eyebrow comb thing. lol. I never liked how certain mascaras would clump. Now I've actually found one that goes on perfectly! I also never understood the meaning behind wearing a dark lip liner with a light lipstick. Eww.. Or plucking your eyebrows all the way to a thin line and filling it with brow pencil to make them bigger. I just don't understand it.

10. What do you think of the beauty community on Blogger/Youtube?
I absolutely LOVE it! Had I not found this community, I would only be doing the minimal makeup routine. I love that there are just so many helpful videos and blog posts to find on applying makeup and reviews on what NOT to buy. It's amazing!

11. Who is your style icon?
I'd have to say that I don't really have a specific person but I mainly like the styles of Amarixe and Michelle Phan. They both do classy looks, along with fun looks and I'm all about doing subtle things and the occasional wild thing. I'd definitely say they are my inspiration.

Coastal Scents Brushes: Review

Hi Everyone! I wanted to do a review on my Coastal Scents brush set. I received this set for Christmas and I absolutely love having a brush set. Before, I'd just use the little sponge applicators and those are just horrible!

I love these brushes. As you can tell, mine are dirty and I need to clean them. haha. This set comes with 10 brushes but mine only came with 9, which I just noticed right now after having owned the set for almost 2.5 months now. I emailed Coastal Scents to see if they could send me the missing brush. I'll let everyone know what happens.

This set ended up being $29.95. My boyfriends mom got it for me for Christmas because that and the Coastal Scents palette was the only two things I wanted for Christmas from her.
Onto the brushes:

#1:

Flat Top Bronzer Buffer Brush

This brush retails for $8.49. I love how soft this brush feels but considering I don't wear blush or bronzer (yet) I haven't really had a need for this brush.

#2

Synthetic Oval Foundation

This brush retails for $3.99. Since I don't wear concealer yet, I use this brush just to dust off any eye shadow that has fallen on my cheeks. Yet again, the brush is soft and nice quality.

#3

Deluxe Oval Shadow Brush

This brush retails for $2.39. I rarely use this brush. I mainly use it if I want to put a silver tone all over the lid under my other colors.

#4

Blending Fluff Brush

This brush retails for $1.99. Yet again, I rarely use this brush. It's a blending brush and I just have no need for it. I think overall I have used this brush maybe twice.

#5

Semi Firm Pointed Crease

This brush retails for $3.95. This is a crease brush and of course, it's used for the crease. I've used this brush quite a bit for blending and for my crease. At first I didn't like it because all the eye shadow would fall off but I think it was really that my eyeshadow is a little chalky.

#6

Oval Synthetic Concealer Brush

This brush retails for $2.89 and is a great little concealer brush for under your eyes and under your nose. I've actually used this brush a lot to pack on the eye shadow. Since it's a stiff brush it's great to really pack eyeshadow on your lids. I have used it once for concealer when I was visiting my mom.

#7

Angle Taklon Liner Brush

This brush retails for $1.79. This brush is a great addition to the set because it's the perfect size and shape to add a little color to your lash line. I absolutely love this brush.

#8

Pink Oval Fluff Shadow Brush

This brush retails for $1.95. This brush I use more than the bigger eyeshadow brush. It's the perfect size for the eyelid and does a good job applying color and blending.

#9

Kolinsky Lip Brush

This brush retails for $3.49. I've never used this brush for my lips. It actually just sits in the case for right now since I don't have any lipsticks or lip glosses that need to be applied with this.

#10 I don't have...is another lip brush.

These brushes are pretty nice quality. They are super soft and great for applying makeup. The only cons with these brushes are that they stink really bad when you get them, which I think is because of the case they are in. Also, they shed a lot. I'll be putting shadow on and there will be brissles sticking up.

A cool thing about this set is that you get this nice little leather case to protect the brushes. It can actually hold more brushes than the ones it comes with.

Yay for brushes!!! All brushes and other brush sets can be found at www.coastalscents.com

My Wishlist for 2011

So I can not believe how much cute stuff I seem to be finding lately! I'm excited! It's been so long since I've even thought about getting anything cute for myself.

I decided that this would be a good time to go over my 2011 Wishlist with everyone. I'm going to list my top 10 things I am wishing to get this year (sometime anyway). Let's get started!!

#1.

Karmaloop.com  $30.95 on Sale!
I stumbled across Linda Love's blog page and fell in love with her various Hello Kitty items. I am very thankful that she included a link to where she bought some of her stuff. Karmaloop.com is awesome! I saw this adorable Hello Kitty Nerd tote there and I must have it! I'm not much of a bag lady and seldomly find a bag worth buying. This one is perfect and is a good price! $30.95 on sale! Regular $54.00. Talk about bargain!

#2

Karmaloop.com   $30.00

No purse would be complete without a wallet! I nearly fell over when I saw this one! It's so adorable! It's crazy how it's $30 and the purse is $30. Oh well, it's still cute and I want it. Lol. I'm definitely a one wallet type of girl and I need to expand and have more wallets so my "one" doesn't get demolished. Maybe if I have more, each one will get used equally.

#3

bhphotovideo.com    $769

I have wanted a DSLR for quite awhile now. I love taking pictures and always have! The T2i is made by Canon (obviously) and has 18mega pixels. The price above is for the body and the 18-55mm lens. I'm not a fan of the 18-55mm lens but it's not a bad price for both. I would die to have this camera!

#4

Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils $4.99

I've been eyeballing these for awhile now. I see a lot of people use these on youtube videos and blogs and I love how smoothly they seem to go on. I've talked to a few friends and they, of course, told me to get some. I should have got some last week when Ulta was having a buy 1 get 1 50% off. Oh well, ya win some you lose some. Plus right now I don't have a lot of money to be spending on stuff other than gas and food. I'm hoping to get the Milk, Strawberry Milk, Green and purple one soon! :D

#5

Totoro!  $38 +
I use to watch this movie all the time: My Neighbor Totoro. I loved it! It made me laugh so much. I love Totoro. Well, I had no idea that they actually had a plush form of him! Talk about exciting! Well I had the opportunity to get him when I was in Japantown, CA but I resisted because he was almost $40 and I needed to spend that money on other things. One day I'll get him. hehe.

#6

Old Navy $14.50

I love me some Old Navy!! I got my St. Patty's Day Hello Kitty t-shirt from there for the same price. I'd love to have a few more. There's this one and a purple/pink one but I really do like this one!

#7

Nike 6.0 Air Mogan Mid 2    $75.00 @ zappos.com

I've never been a bit Nike fan but for some reason I love these shoes. You can never have too many shoes! I just wish these were a bit cheaper. I can't see myself paying $75.00 for shoes. I'm cheap, I know.

#8

Revlon Color Burst Lipgloss $7.49 @ Ulta.com

I've seen a few girls use these in blogs and videos and I love the pinks. I wouldn't mind trying a few of these. They look really pretty. Kinda expensive for lipgloss in my opinion but I love the color choices and have heard pretty good things about these.

#9

MAC Pencil Brush $24.50
I've heard a lot of good stuff about MAC brushes and I think eventually I'd like to try a few of them. One being the eye pencil brush. I've seen how easy this brush makes putting eye shadow on the lower lash line and upper lash line and would love to get my hands on it to try out.

and finally

#10

Ksport Coilovers $680-$715

I will be getting these eventually for my car. I can't wait! I'll hopefully be getting these sometime this summer so I can have the car that much closer to being ready for my trip out to Cali 2012!! Yay!

Eye Shadow 2/20/11

Today I decided to do a silver look with a touch of pink under my lower lashes. All of the eye shadows I used have been from my coastal scents prism palette.

Eye Shadow 2/19/11

I decided to get a little creative with my eye shadow last night and did a mixture of purple and black. I'm not good at using blacks on my eyelids but I think I did pretty good last night.

Last night I used a black from the coastal scents prism palette and a bright purple. Under the eye lashes I used black to connect the black on the lid and then purple.

Hello Kitty!!

I absolutely love Hello Kitty. So when Blake and I were in Cali in the Old Navy and I saw this shirt; I couldn't pass it up.

I love it!! It's for St. Patty's Day but I'll probably wear it the entire month of March! It was $14.50 and I found it at Old Navy. Cute right?! I saw an Easter one but they didn't have my size so I just got this one. I can't wait for it to be March already so I can wear it!

It's Been Awhile

It's been quite awhile since I've posted. I was trying to do the 30 day challenge but since I was in Cali for a week, I got side tracked. I'll probably start the 30 day challenge over next month.

Anyway, February 5-12th I was in California due to my grandma having to have surgery because she had a mass in her colon. They found out it was cancer and removed half of her colon and her appendix. Well, they did some tests and found that some of the lymphs had cancer. So, starting in about 25 days, she'll be going through Chemo. She's a tough lady. I told her that her new song is going to be "brick house" because she's like a brick house. lol.

My week in California was pretty good, minus the fact that I got sick shortly after arriving. Not very pleasant. Blake got to meet the rest of my family and we were able to go to San Francisco one day to hangout and see his friend Jose. We had quite a pleasant trip.

Day 7: Favorite Movies

My Favorite Movies in no particular order:

That's pretty much all I can think of for right now lol.

Day 6: A picture of something that makes you happy

Blake and Me

This man right here ^ makes me the happiest person ever! I have been with him for 2 years and I could  not be happier. One day we will get married and have a cute house. I can't wait. He's really the "something" that makes me happy. I could not imagine spending my life with anyone else but him :D

Day 5: what's in my purse

What's in my purse:

  1. My wallet
  2. My car insurance
  3. Extra Hair Ties
  4. Extra Hair Clips
  5. Perfume
  6. 2 Chapsticks
  7. Flight Schedule
  8. Receipts
  9. My cute flower ring
  10. Car Keys and House Keys
  11. Gate Key

That's pretty much everything in my purse. On good days I don't have as much and on bad days it's hard for me to even find my gate key. Hopefully one of these days I can get a new purse because mine are all getting old.

Day 4: My family!

My Family:

Dad and I :D

Mi Madre y Yo :)

My Brother Tyler

Mi Familia!

My Extended Family:

Blake's Dad Walter :)

Blake's Stepmom Marilyn :)

Blake's Mom Suzie :D
